Flatten PDF Form
To flatten a filled PDF form, add it, check the list of fields found and press Flatten form. Each answer is painted onto the page and the editable field removed, so recipients can no longer change it and answers look the same in every viewer. It cannot be undone, so keep your editable original.

How to use Flatten PDF Form

- 2Check the list of fields that were found, with the type of each one.
- 3Press Flatten form.
- 4Download the locked copy and send that, keeping the editable original for yourself.
How it works
An interactive PDF form keeps its answers in field objects that sit above the page, which is why a reader can still click and retype them. Flattening paints each field's current appearance onto the page itself and then removes the interactive widget, so the words become ordinary page content.
That matters for anything sent onward. Before flattening, a recipient can change a figure in a form field and forward it; afterwards, editing needs a proper PDF editor and leaves traces that are far easier to spot. It also fixes the common complaint that filled answers look wrong or vanish in some viewers, because there are no longer any fields to render.
The field list is shown first so you can confirm the right document is loaded — a form with no fields at all is reported plainly rather than producing an identical file with no explanation.
The file is read into your browser's memory, changed there, and handed straight back to you. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue and no copy sitting on a server afterwards.
Tips and common mistakes
- Keep the editable original for yourself and send the flattened copy.
- Check the list of fields before flattening; it confirms you loaded the right document.
- Flatten before signing, so nothing can change after your signature is on the page.
- Flatten before merging. Merging does not carry form fields across, but flattened answers are part of the page and survive.
